Guájar-Faragüit is hardly Sin City but you could be forgiven for thinking that it was after a village ex-councillor appeared on the streets, armed with a shotgun, shooting it into the air.
The Guardia Civil were soon there and arrested the ex-councillor for the Convergencia Andaluza party for causing a public disturbance.
The emergency coordination centre received two calls around 21.00h on Wednesday the 8th to say that somebody was blasting off a shotgun in the church square and shouting threats at the top of his voice.
When the police arrived, they found Los Guajares’ answer to Billy the Kid with twelve spent cartridges scattered on the ground around him. He does have a gun licence and the firearm is registered, but the consequently peppered walls and loose rooftiles belonging to some of the buildings in the square was a tad illegal. Naturally, he was relieved of his 12-bore and his gun licence was revoked.
In his defence, this is not a hobby of his and his neighbours assure that it has never happened before.
