Undoubtedly, the attribute paid to Herradureño Ernesto Barbero paid by the Municipal Sports Area of ​​Almuñécar was the one that received most applause at the award-giving event for athletes.

The Almuñécar Casa de La Cultura was packed and many of the members of the audience rose to their feet and applauded when event compere, Carmen García, recalled the cycling accident suffered by Ernest and his miraculous recovery after almost two months in coma.

At the event was the now internationally famous cyclist from Almuñécar, Carlos Rodríguez Cano, who has  participated in and won many regional, national and international cycling competitions.

The Mayor, Juan José Ruiz Joya, wrapped up the award-giving event, with the words: “The effort and dedication of our athletes is not the result of chance. From the Town Hall we will continue to support their dreams and work so that, in the future, we have even more sports ambassadors in Almuñécar and La Herradura,.” 

The Gala de los Premios del Deporte 2024 was held on Monday the 23rd and one of the new awards given was the Jean Louis Andreck Award., As the owner of CK photography shop,  he had dedicated more than 40 years to photography, video and promoting the municipality. This award was delivered by Andreck’s daughter and grandchildren to journalist Juan Manuel de Haro, who has worked tirelessly to give visibility to the sport and athletes of Almuñécar and La Herradura.
