The Chairman of the Provincial Council, Francis Rodríguez, accompanied by the Mayor of Albuñuelas, José Díaz, inaugurated the finished bride on the GR-3208 which had been widened.

Rodríguez highlighted the importance of this work for the municipality, noting that “today we celebrate a very anticipated achievement by the residents of Albuñuelas. This work, in addition to improving road safety, represents our firm commitment to the development and improvement of infrastructure in all peoples of the province. ”

Mayor José Díaz, has expressed his gratitude and satisfaction during the inauguration, saying that “today a job, [costing 462,921 euros] that we badly needed has been carried out, adding “I want to thank the Chairman for fulfilling his pledge.”

The Mayor said that in its original form the bridge had been a safety concern as it was only wide enough for one vehicle to cross at a time and making it impossible for articulated lorries and buses to use.

The bridge was built 100 years ago and the village of Albuñuelas has been after the successive administrations running the Provincial Council to do something about it for 20 years of its existence.
