Underwater Park Closer

Almuñécar's Parque Azul de Vida Submarina has been in the planning stage for over 20 years but it is starting to look a little closer to becoming reality.

Since the work of drawing up the terms & conditions for the construction of the underwater park was assigned to Baschi Innovation 2021 S.L., things have come along, as it was a major step.

According to the Town Hall, the contruction of the subaquatic park was awarded to a Unión Temporal de Empresas (a temporary union of two or more companies to carry out a task, as they could not do it individually).

The UTE will make the figures that will be placed on the seabed once the area of the seabed has been formally designated, at a depth of between 14 and 24 metres.

The idea is to integrate historical themes with the environment and the town’s economic development, using a budget of 2.5-million euros, which come from EU funding (Next Generation).

The park will cover an area of 5,000 square metres with around 150 concrete figures, ranging from statues to Phoenican ships and Spanish galleys, with amphorae scattered around

Quite apart from being attractions for divers, the larger constructions will act as reefs for fish and other sea life.
