Orange Alerts Issued

Town Halls along the Costa Tropical have reacted to weather reports issued by the Spanish Weather Agency (AEMET) and issued their own alerts.

Almuñécar-La Herradura Town Hall issued a ‘pre-alert’ warning at 18.53h yesterday evening warning heavy rainfall, which was supposed to have begun in the early morning, which has so far failed to materialise, which doesn’t mean that it is not on its way.

The Mayor of Motril, Luis García Chamorro, announced yesterday evening the closure of municipal installations during today; i.e., the Town Hall and sports facilities, for example. Obviously, the Medical Centres and emergency services would continue to operate.

Motril remains Yellow Alert for the moment, which is a step down from Orange Alert. All local authorities recommend that citizens remain informed by official channels.

Salobreña has also issued warnings via its Facebook page, putting the town at Orange Alert, announcing that schools will remain closed today, along with other public buldings.

Finally, the Costa del Sol (Málaga) is on red alert, which is the highest.
