Stray Cats Poisoned

Just across from Casa Emilio, next to the supermarket on Salobreña beach there is a sort of trailer-cum-kiosk restaurant; Simbioremolquea, whose owners are at loggerheads with the Town Hall.

According to the Councillor, another cat had had been beaten to death. This situation had been going on for at least a fortnight.

Up to the 17th of last month six cats had been poisoned, the majority of which died despite efforts by a local vet to save them.

The incidents had been reported to the Town Hall by a group of volunteers that manages the stray cat population.

Councillor Ángela Rodríguez strongly condemns these happenings and calls for citizen collaboration to find out who has been doing this. She says that presently the Guardia Civil are investigating the affair through their environmental department, Seprona.

She points out that under the new law concerning animal protection this sort of thing is considered a criminal offence that could result in a prison sentence.
