A baby in the first year of its life choked to death yesterday morning in Albolote, in the Metropolitan Area of Granada.
The emergency coordination centre received a phone alert around ten in the morning saying that a baby was choking to death.
The incident took place in a dwelling on Calle Leones, to where an ambulance and the Guardia Civil were despatched. When the paramedics arrived, it was already too late and the child was dead.
The Mayor of Albolote, Salustiano Ureña García, expressed his condolences to the family upon learning of the incident.
The law dictates that the Guardia Civil in these cases has to follow a judicial protocol in order to move the body. A subsequent autopsy will officially establish the cause of death.
