If you're going to prang your car, there's little sense in doing it in half measures… if you're drunk, which was the case of a 20-year-old man.
In the early hours of one Sunday morning whilst Avenida de Andalucía in Torre del Mar slumbered, the 20-year-old smashed into a traffic light (obviously, he disagreed with the colours offered), smashed one of those huge flowerpot-cum-planters that adorn streets and then knocked over a row of bollards as if they were skittles, before his vehicle came to rest.
It crossed his mind to reverse back and make himself scarce but the abused chariot was too badly damaged, so he stayed put. His car might have been a write-off, but he, as is often the case with drunks, was unharmed.
The police arrived, took one look at the worse-for-wear street and breathalysed him and to nobody’s surprise, least of all the driver’s, he was over the limit.

Reader’s comment: “Just a thought, but shouldn’t he have to pay for all that damage? Of course nothing is as simple as that, I know.” – Stephanie Davies
