Whilst residents of La Herradura and other coastal towns are going full out to get jet skis banned, a new sports, much quieter, is emerging: e-Surfing.
First we had traditional surfing, then came along windsurfing, follwed by kite surfing and even paddle boarding, so that he we are with a pretty spectacular… but silent, e-surfing with e-foils!
Yes, as it names suggest it is an electrically powered surfboard that has a sort of hydrofoil beneath which brings the surfboard out of the water.
The batter gives the user up to two hours of performance, reaching speeds of up to 40 kph, which, we can imagine, depends on the the sea state.
In Motril AWA in gives learners classes at 140 per hour and most pupils can get the hand of it in one class. After that, you can rent one at 80 euros the hour.
So, unlike the dreaded jet ski, which is noisey, this sport is not only quiet but it does not contaminate, so its a win-win.
The car (amongst other products) manufacturer, Audi, makes the best e-Foils, according to the Motril-based company.
You can literally glide above the water from La Herradura to Motril, enjoying the sights of the coastline.
