There was a nasty road accident in Madrid last week when a Policía Nacional patrol car, which was rushing as back up for another unit, ploughed into a group of pedestrians.
The incident occurred on Sunday at a junction between Calle Narváez and Calle Alcalá in the centre of Madrid, when a squad car crashed up onto the pedestrian pavement, hitting several people.
Three of them were badly hurt; a baby and two women, one of whom was the child’s mother, according to the Madrid ambulance service, Samur.
A 47-year-old woman was very badly injured as she was literally crushed by the squad car. She was rushed to Hospital de La Paz; The baby, who is just over 1-year old, suffered facial and cranioencephalic injures. The 34-year-old mother, who suffered a fractured femur and was badly bruised, was taken to Hospital 12 de Octubre.
There was a fourth person, who suffered less serious injuries, who was taken to Hospital Gregorio Marañón.
Finally, three people were treated for shock, one of whom was the grandmother of the baby.
