A rubbish strike was set for the 5th of August but the unions first decided to postpone it, and now they have fully cancelled, it, so you can breath a sigh of relief.
The whole problem is that the PP municipal administration has long been trying to privatise municipal rubbish collection and street cleaning and the workers from the old public company, Limedeco, have been pushing back on it.
Just before the strike was due to take place on the 5th, the Town Hall presented a 500-page proposal, so the unions decided to put the strike on hold until they had read and digested it.
Having done so, the four unions representing the workers (CGT, CCOO, CSIF and UGT) had a meeting with the workers and the majority of votes were to cancel definitively the planned strike.
