Country Lane Asphalted

Salobreña Town Hall is carrying out the tarmacking of nearly two kilometres of the Camino Los Ferreles in the Pago Los Palmares

This work is part of Plan Itínere II and has a budget of 370,000 euros, funded by the EU, Central Government and the Junta de Andalucía.

The first task has been to level the surface, ready for the bed of tarmac, as well as cutting back the vegetation along its borders.

This lane was selected for tarmacking given that there are over 100 smallholdings along its route, including sub-tropical fruit orchards and plastic greenhouses.

Most of the track will receive a bed of tarmac, except for where a gulley crosses it, which is where the surface will have concrete, owing to its durability.

Councillor for Public Works, Juan Gutiérrez, said that the task is part of the overall improvement of rural lanes; something that has had considerable demand.

Don’t really see the need…. all that money spent on a serviceable road enabling vehicles to go even faster…. surely there are more environmentally friendly projects to spend scarce financial resources on?
