Staff at the Chiringuito Pepe Oro, near El Peñoncillo in Torrox-Costa, noticed a young boy who had been sitting by himself on the beach for a while.
They alerted Cruz Roja who began the task of finding out who the parents were of this 8-year-old, foreign boy, who appeared to be autistic and didn’t speak.
Protección Civil joined in, as did the Nerja Policía Local, who finally tracked down the parents, who were at a nearby chiringuito, the José Jiménez.
They explained that they thought that he was with his 13-year-old sister; but evidently he wasn’t. The boy had walked out of the camper van in which the family were staying and wandered off onto the beach.
Not even an hour had passed between the boy being noticed and reported, and his parents being found, so for once, there is something positive to report with a happy ending.
