Work is being carried out on the road bridge on the GR-3208 within the municipality of Albuñelas.
The project has a budget of 462,921 euros, which is being financed by the Provincial Council, explained the Councillor for Public Works and Housing, José Ramón Jiménez, who visited the work site.
There has long been a local demand for improvement work to this 100-year-old, access bridge for the village, because it is too narrow to let two cars pass each other, meaning that one has to wait until the bridge is clear. This is especially problematic when a bus or lorry is involved.
The building work to widen the bridge is scheduled to take six months
The Chairman of the Provincial Council, Francis Rodríguez believes that the result will improve living conditions in the village and help fight against the slow loss of population.
The Mayor of Albuñuelas, José Díaz, expressed his satisfaction on the progress being made and believes that this bridge widening will be just the first of many Provincial Council public works in the village.
