The trial will be held on the 27th of this month in the provincial law courts in Granada. Besides the incarceration period, the Public Prosecutor also recomends that there should be an 8,500-euro fine handed down.
The incident occurred in Dúrcal on the 21st of June, 2021 around 19.00h where two of the accused lived as a couple. There were also two minors in the dwelling when the explosion occurred who also received severe-burn injuries in the blast. They had been ‘cooking’ the hashish to produce hashish oil.
To do this you introduce butane into an extractor tube containing compressed hashish, thus putting it under pressure. The result is that resin oil begins to come out the other end. The resin oil is then heated to eliminate the air trapped inside.
In fact, the five people present, aged between 16 and 21, also received burns of varying degrees caused by the conflagaration. Three of them had to be intubated upon arrival at hospital in the ICU ward.
The Guardia Civil experts who examined the scene of the explosion found different substances and apparatus that pointed towards their having been cooking hashish. They also found drugs worth 3,000 euros street value.
The three adults involved will be sitting on the accused bench, charged with an offence against public health.
