This is in reference to the proposed strike action during Easter over the farming out of refuse collection to private companies.
In the case against the Town Hall, scheduled for a hearing on the 1st of July, the union accuses the Mayor of using all means to coerce through threats of disciplinary actions against staff.
At present this situation stands blocked through “the governing council’s lack of willingness” to meet with the union representatives and find a solution, according to the Spokesperson for the union, Clara Castarnado.
In the meantime municipal workers continue to collect signatures, which they began several weeks earlier against the privatising of the public refuse-collection service.
To date they have over 2,000 signatures and are continuing to inform members of the public (property owners who pay for refuse collection in their municipal taxes) about what consequences such a move would bring.
