Projects Pending Road Authorities

SAL Plot for Bodegas CalventeThe first one is a hotel project in El Pargo, known locally as the Hotel Capullito and is the Bodegas Calvente vineyard project that will be just opposite from Hotel Salambina.

Now, when the Mayor, Javier Ortega, speaks of the two projects he refers to “these hotel projects,” which is confusing unless Bodegas Calvente is going to build a bodega with a hotel included, along the lines of Señoria Nevada near Padul.

Be that as it may, the bodega will actually sit on the same plot as where the Ron Bermúdez factory use to occupy many years ago. The only thing left of that factory is the gate hut.

The problem is that this stretch of the N-340 between La Caleta and the first entrance to Salobreña is lethal because of the speed of traffic coming up from the gasolinera further down from the first entrance to Salobreña. At least two pedestrians have been killed trying to cross more or less in front of Hotel Salambina.

Therefore, traffic on the bleed-in lane coming up from the municipal-cemetery-lane roundabout below the road will conflict with the entrance to the proposed bodega. No idea how they will get around that one.

Then there’s the El Pargo hotel project, where nobody appears to be totally clear where it will be built. El Pargo (there is a real-estate office with that name on the N-340) is somewhere below Urbanizacion Costa Aguilera Alta – that’s where the Pargo-SA real-estate office is. There is a failed hotel nearby which is almost a collection of cylindrical towers. Could that be it? Yet, it already has access to and from the N-340.
