El Ministerio de Transportes y Movilidad Sostenible has approved the alterations to the N-340 where it passes through Torrenueva Costa.
The modifications will lie between kilometre points 336.6 and 338.5; or in other words on a section approximately two kilometres long in the centre of town.
The project, which has an estimated budget of 3.23m euros, is designed to both embellish the town, slow the traffic and improve pedestrian safety. It will include a roundabout instead of some of the traffic-light system presently installed.
The pavements will be improved (at the cost of narrower traffic lanes) and gardened areas added, as well.
More details:
* A roundabout at km point 33.700 with a radius of 18 metres.
* There will be a centre gardened area separating the lanes.
Editorial note: There was no start date in the press release, nor works duration.

Patrick: I took my driving test here and was gobsmacked by the instructor’s explanation on how to use a roundabout. After class, I diplomatically pointed out how it should be used. He disagreed.
A personal aside. I think that traffic lights are safer. Almost all drivers here ignore or do not know or care about the rules on roundabouts. Hoot and almost drive into you as they merrily go around the outside lane. No matter what. Some even become aggressive, if you cut them up to take your turn off. Plus of course indicators are not necessary.
