Not only have the residents of Los Guájares had no or little road access owing to landslides, but Guájar Alto has also had no telephone coverage either.
This problem began before the heavy showers brought rocks and soil down onto the roads as it started two weeks ago.
This is because customers belonging to two different telephone companies are unable to receive or make calls because a shared booster mast has been out of service and continues to be.
Mayor Antonio Mancilla explained that the only one of the three villages belonging to Los Guájares affected is Guájar Alto and that the Town Hall has urged the two telephone companies to get their acts together and sort out the problem. However, neither company has responded.
Consequently, the Mayor has promised that if they haven’t solved the problem before the week is out, he will sue them and bring them before the Ombudsman.
