There was a second vega fire yesterday in Salobreña, barely 12 hours after the last one, which we also reported on.

This time it was near the river mouth of Río Guadalfeo, next to the nautical-sports club, 18 Nudos, more or less 500 metres from beach road housing. Readers might remember that the club’s bus-cum-club house was torched a year or so ago.

With hardly time to rest from the vega fire in the early hours of that same day, fire crews from Motril were called out again around 14.20h, together with the Guardia Civil, Infoca firefighters and Policía Local.

Prevalent high winds this weekend have made the task of stopping it spreading and consuming more wild cane, let alone putting it out, very difficult.
