Rumbling Below

The Instituto Geográfico Nacional registered a seismic movement of 2.0 on the Richter Scale yesterday at 14.52h.

GRA La Malahá Earth Tremor FB24The epicentre was below La Malahá (next to Otura) more or less 12 kilometres down,  meaning that most people in the area were completely unaware of it.

The previous day, Friday there was an earth tremor under Albondón at 19.49h, registering 1.5 on the Richter Scale, but this time only one kilometre down, which means that given its proximity to the surface, there was more chance of it being noticed despite its lower intensity.

Cape San Vicente, just off the Portuguese coast had a stronger seismic movement at 13.30h yesterday registering 4.3 on the scale and 3.3 the day before. The fact is that there are around a dozen minor earth tremors around the Iberian Peninsular every day.
