A man out walking his dog in the mountainous area behind Padul lost his mutt when it belted off chasing a mountain goat. The trouble is, dogs can’t go where goats can go and before long it got trapped on a ledge.This happened on Sunday the 21st of last month.

So, the owner called for help from the Granada fire service, but night was falling and a search was put off until the next morning, so Salvi, the overly optimistic dog in question, spent the night perched up high.

Next morning a team set out from the Parque Sur de Bomberos and made their way to the scene to meet the owner who was waiting at the foot of the ascent to guide them. It was a fair walk, taking about an hour to reach the spot, weighed down with their equipment; ropes, tackles, harnesses, etc.

When they arrived, Salvi was waiting expectantly to be rescued, so the team started setting out ropes and tackle in order to reach him and bring him down.

In the end the grateful hound was reunited with its owner but the team leader did happen to mention that a little more responsibility from pet owners wouldn’t go a miss.
