Animal Cruelty in Motril

A patrol belonging to Seprona (Guardia Civil environmental section) is investigating a resident of Motril for animal cruelty.

They had received a tip off about the lamentable conditions in which a 51-year-old man had been keeping eleven dogs; eight adults and three pups.

When the patrol arrived at the address given they found a half-built building which had pens with dogs that had no food, water and surrounded by their own excrement. Furthermore, they were all infested with parasites.

The officers immediately confiscated the animals and took them to be examined by a veterinary surgeon. The consequent report said that they were all very anaemic  as well as having abundant intestinal parasites.

The animal refuge association, SOS Animales Salobreña, have provisionally taken the dogs into their care, as the animals are the property of the court until a judge decides what is to be done with them.
