Two lads in their late teens were injured when their car left the road and shot down an embankment in Maro on Sunday night.

The accident happened on the MA-5105, when for reasons unknown, the driver lost control of the Ford Fiesta, knocking through a metal fence and down a 3-metre drop with the car ending up standing on its nose in the Río Torrox riverbed.

Both occupants had to be helped out of the car by the Policía Local and locals who had heard the crash and gone to investigate.

Forming a human chain, after securing the car to make sure that it didn’t move, they got the driver and passenger out before the car dropped further.

Neither occupant was badly injured; just cuts & bruises and soiled underwear. The officers breathalysed them on the spot which gave negative readings.

The police believe that the accident was caused through speeding
