Málaga Train Collision

One of Málaga's train stations, El Chorro, was the scene of a lateral collision last Saturday night between two trains.

AND Malaga Train Collision 01The incident occurred around 21.30h as a result of what they suspect was one of the trains coming partially off the rails as it drew alongside the other train, although this has yet to be confirmed.

Fortunately, nobody was hurt, according to Renfe. The emergency call centre also reports that there were no injured passengers.

Passengers from both trains, around 200 travellers, had to leave the trains and were taken to the main station, Estación Málaga María Zambrano to continue on their journeys, however.

Those passengers who were travelling on the one bound for Sevilla were transferred from there by coach to their destination.

The Málaga fire service were called out to help with the inspection and damage assessment. One train does not appear to have suffered any damage to speak of but the other, which supposedly derailed, has more extensive damage. Ambulances were also present in case they were needed, as well as Protección Civil and the Policía Local de Álora.
