Workers belonging to the state-owned, national railway company, Renfe and Adif, responsible for rail infrastructure, are going on strike tomorrow.
The reason behind the strike is that the Central Government has agreed to pass over the Catalán commuter rail (Rodalies) to that regional government as part of the pact for their support for PM Pedro Sánchez’s re-election.
You might think, what the hell does that have to do with Granada but this 5-day strike will affect trains in and out anyway.
Strike action will cause almost 1,550 train services to be cancelled across the country on the 24th and 30th of November and the 1st, 2nd and 30th of December. This will directly effect almost 50 trains passing through Granada train station and more specifically, eight trains tomorrow.
The Ministry of Transport has set a 65% minimum services affecting connections with Sevilla, Málaga and Almeria and a 72% minimum services in high-speed trains linking Granada to Madrid and Barcelona.
Trains on Friday that will run as normal are the 06.45 Barcelona-Granada and the 15.30h Granada-Barcelona. As for trains running between Granada and Antocha (Madrid) the following will run as normal: 06.58h, 15.39h, 19.26h Madrid bound and the 14.35h and 20.05h Granada bound.
Regional services between Sevilla, Málaga and Almería will see cancellations, however: 09.43h Granada-Sevilla and the 17.22h Granada-Sevilla; The 15.42h Málaga-Granada and 13.35h Granada-Málaga. Almería will be harder hit: the 15.12h and 18.12.h Granada-Almería and 06.20h and 14.28 Almería Granada trains.
