A middle-aged woman was arrested in Motril, suspected of carrying out a snatch & grab theft yesterday.

The 52-year-old woman is alleged to have yanked a gold necklace off her elderly, female victim, witnessed by several people.

This occurred around 09.00h on Tuesday in the town centre on Calle Romero Civantos, which is next to the Town Hall Square.

The Policía Local were soon at the scene to interview the victim. Armed with a good description of the suspected thief, a police patrol soon located her and carried out the arrest.

The police are looking into whether there have been similar incidents in the last few days that could be linked to the suspect.
