Better Late Than Never

At last, a spot of colder weather and a good cover of snow up on Sierra Nevada.

GRA SN October SnowfallThe Sierra Nevada resort reports snow between 2,500 and 2,600 metres up, making Cetursa breath a sigh of relief.

It doesn’t mean that it’s here to stay, but it paves the way a little later on for the snow cannons, as temperatures up there will permit their use.

What it definitely means is that the long Indian summer or Veranillo de San Miguel, has ended, thank God!

If you have a peek at the web cameras on their webpage, you won’t be able to see much at the moment, owing to the cloud base, leaving the slopes in fog. But it’s there, Ladies and Gentlemen, having settled, unlike the light sprinkling from last Saturday.

Now the ski station has its eyes set on the end of November or beginning of December to begin the ski season, so that it will be open for the double, bank holiday of the 6th (Día de la Constitucion) and the 8th (Yet Another Virgin).

Back to the present and the Agencia Estatal de Meteorología (Aemet) predicts more rain & wind, as well as strong wave action down on the coast.
