The Orquesta de Cámara Mediterránea will offer a performance during the All Saints Day fiestas in Almuñécar.
The concert will be held on Sunday the 29th at 19.00h in the Casa de la Cultura, Almuñécar.
One of the works that will be performed is the Stabat Mater by Pergolesi, with the Granada-born soprano, Laura Sabatel and Stephen Díaz from New Zealand.
Next is a work by Felix Mendelssohn, who composed his String Symphony, Nº10 when he was only 14. In fact, Mendelssohn wrote thirteen string symphonies between 1821 and 1823; in other words when he was aged from 12 to 14 years old.
Symphony No. 10 in B minor, is approximate ten minutes long. It is almost certain that this single movement originally had at least two accompanying movements, but they have never come to light.
Another piece is Enigma Variations by Edward Elgar. In naming his theme Enigma, Elgar posed a challenge which has generated much speculation but has never been conclusively answered. The Enigma is widely believed to involve a hidden melody.
Adagio for Strings is a work by Samuel Barber, arguably his best known, arranged for string orchestra from the second movement of his String Quartet, Op. 11.
