As announced, there was a litter clean-up campaign in the Río Verde vega of Almuñécar that was organised for Sunday, which went ahead as planned.

Volunteers picked up nearly a tonne of litter and other discarded objects along the irrigation channels throughout the vega.

The Río Verde Comunidad de Regantes collaborated by allowing volunteers access to all the irrigation channels and surrounding areas.

The private, cleaning company with the municipal contract, FCC, removed the rubbish once collected.

The Councillor for Agriculture, Carlos Ferrón, thanked the volunteers and organisers, (Asociación 2020 & Colina), for their participation and their solidarity towards the environment.
