Altillo Digital Tourist Office

Almuñécar's Town Council plans to turn the small tourist-information kiosk on the Paseo del Altillo into a digital one with outside touch screens.

This will be financed with a grant of 140,000 euros that it received from the Junta de Andalucía after the town was awarded the Tourist Municipality category.

Mind you, of the total sum received, not all of it will be spent on the tourist office as some will be spent on restoring the old pottery workshop next to the castle, for example.

Just drawing up the project for the Altillo kiosk has cost 5,000 euros and 40,000 euros will have to be invested in the works, plus furniture and technology which will raise the total to 60,000 euros.

Much like the main tourist office in La Najarra, the contents and tours will be tailored to the visitors and their interests. They will be given the QR for the route they have requested and the schedules will automatically be sent to their phones. As the Altillo kiosk will have screens accessible from the outside, those interested can use them 24/7.

Thanks to other grants received from the Junta’s Board of Tourism, the Town Hall was able to carry out the La Herradura market project, costing a quarter of a million euros.
