The Loro Sexi bird park in Almuñécar has increased its parrots population, thanks to donations from individuals who couldn't take care of them any longer.
The new additions are pairs of green-naped lorikeets (Trichoglossus haematodus), sun parakeets (Aratinga solstitialis) and blue-fronted amazon (Amazona aestiva), also called the blue-fronted parrots, said the Councillor for Parks and Gardens, Carlos Ferrón.
The donors, Conchi Bueno and Sebastián Polo, stated, “From my first phone call right up to the day they entered the bird park, the attention has been unbeatable. The park workers call the parrots by their names, they use the words that I have taught them… and that says a lot about the great professionals who work in the park.”.
The Councillor in charge of the bird park explained that these new bird are large ones that need a lot of care, so it’s no easy to take care of them but that they are very grateful for the new additions to the bird park.
«These birds first went through quarantine upon entering the park, under the supervision of the veterinary team, which included a special deworming treatment,” explained one of the hands at Loro Sexi.
