Thieves blew up an ATM in order to get away with the cash contained in it.
This took place in Calahonda around four in the morning at the Caja Rural branch. A neighbour, woken by the explosion, filmed three men emptying the ATM.
There was most probably a fourth accomplice out of sight in the getaway car, which appears to be a high-range, white car.
The Policía Nacional, who confirmed the use of explosives, are investigating the robbery. The police station had been alerted by the alarm in the bank.
The Caja Rural branch lies between Calle Coralito and Calle Aguamarina. It was on the latter that the getaway car was waiting, which sped off along the N-340.
Naturally, what happened was the main topic of conversation for the residents of Calahonda throughout Friday and no doubt will be today, too.
