The 74-year-old man who had gone missing in the village of Polopos was finally found alive by the Guardia Civil.
The online platform, SOS Desaparecidos had activated an alert to organise a search, describing the missing man as “highly vulnerable.”
The Guardia Civil also mobilised resources after they were informed that an elderly person had left his home in Polopos and that the family were worried that he was disorientated and had become lost.
Officers were out all night, searching the surrounding area and then Friday morning, with first light, they were able to incorporate a helicopter to assist in the search from the air.
The chopper crew spotted the man sitting in a clearing near Rambla Cautor, which lies within the municipality.
Two mountain rescue officers alighted close to where he was sitting. Upon reaching him and inspecting him they found that he had some bruises and scratches so he was administered First Aid on the spot.
Afterwards he was flown to a nearby medical centre for a check up.
