The Guardia Civil in the Almería town of Vera tracked down and arrested "a dangerous criminal" who was hiding out from the French authorities.

The French police lost track of him in March this year, however the Policía Judicial branch of the Guardia Civil in Garrucha (near Mojácar) received a tip off to say that the fugitive, who is wanted for a drug-related offence, could be lying low in a “town in Almería.”

Then on Tuesday this week, in coordination with the French officers in charge of the case, the Guardia Civil managed to track him down to an urbanizacion in Vera.

They moved in to make the arrest backed by French officers and managed to detain him without anybody getting injured.

He is being held in Spanish custody pending putting him on an aeroplane accompanied by the officers from the French Gendarmerie.
