We're coming up to the halfway point of this summer with plenty of 'scorchio' to come, but not this week, at least.
Yes, while Western Europe will have showers, we’re going to have daytime temperatures in the high 20s only, which is a blessed change. However, night temperatures on the coast will also remain in the low to mid 20s, whilst inland (Nigüelas) Thursday and Friday will have nighttime lows of 17ºC and 19ºC, respectively.
Órgiva will get a small respite on Friday and Saturday, as will Alhama de Granada, Loja and the capital. Baza will get low 30s during the day and nighttime temperatures of 15ºC & 16ºC all of the week (lucky gits),
As for snow… yes snow, In the Alps, there could even be short-lasting snowfall around the 2,000 metre mark. In fact, meteorologist Samuel Biener from Meteored said that a light snowfall in Spain on the Pyrenees and the Cantabrian Mountains cannot be ruled out, however unlikely. Cities in the north of Spain, such as Burgos, Palencia and Leon could wake to temperatures lower than 10ºC on Friday, for example.
So, how will it affect Andalucía? Well, no, we’re not getting any rain nor mornings that would require a light jumper. In fact, in the Sartén de España (The Spanish Frying Pan), that’s to say, the Guadalquivir Valley (Sevilla) they will still be looking at temperatures just over 40ºC and sultry nights.
Hey, but who wants to live in Sevilla, Spain’s equivalent of Death Valley? in the Province of Granada there will be a small respite before buckling down to a traditional August of sweltering days and nights. Whoopee! (beware: sarcasm alert)
The accompanying map is for Friday morning at 08.00h, so this is before the day heats up.
