Two teenagers are thought to be responsible for the fire early in the week in Pulianas, near the Granaita shopping centre where the multi-cine, Kinepolis is.
The police believe, fruit of their investigations, that two male teens, aged 13, might have been involved, which doesn’t necessarily mean that they are suspected of having deliberately started a fire.
There have been several small fires near Pulianas lately, which is why the police and fire service were on the alert for such an occurrence again.
The police informed the parents of the two lads as, being minors, they cannot face charges; i.e., be held criminally responsible. Criminal responsibility in Spain for minors is set between 14 and 17. However, their parents can be held responsible where damages and compensation is concerned.
Whatever the case, the Policía Local in Pulianas consider that the fire was started intentionally, and will have eyewitness accounts that support this.
The fire was extinguished in about three hours, having been reported around nine in the evening of Saturday the 19th in the area of Casería de La Concepción and the Pulianas electricity substation. The flames caused a lot of smoke, which was visible from nearby Granada and other towns in the metropolitan area.
