Tomorrow will see access to Almuñécar's Paseo Prieto Moreno – Caletilla closed to traffic from eight in the morning.
It will remain closed until six tomorrow evening as they are carrying out work on the sewage network at the entrance to the Paseo del Altillo, underground car park.
Readers will remember that the said car park was closed all of last summer because of sewage leaking into the car park – they’re obviously keen to avoid a repetition of this.
They are also working on a support-bracket system for this very large sewage pipe (80cm diametre) that runs between the car park and the upper part of the paseo. The system that was used to support the pipe had corroded; hence the repair work.
The Mancomunidad has carried out work on the sewage-disposal system around Almuñécar, namely next to the Municipal Market, Calle Guadix and the Paseo San Cristóbal (Las Flores), which is being financed by a special levy on domestic water bills.

Patrick: the majority goes to the EBAR on the Paseo de Reina Sofía… some pisses out of cracks into the car park…
This 80cm pipe. That has been there for yonks. Weakened by the lack of supports.
Where does the sewage go. ?
Please assure us. That it goes for treatment at a sewage plant by Almunecar and not into the sea. ?
As so many thousands of illegal pipes do.
Well, there’s keen and there’s keen. Regarding this issue on the underground car park fiasco; since last summer, you’d think it could have been fixed before this summer. I mean, it’s only a year ago. Oh well, maybe ready for next summer!
