The XXIII Flamenco Gala, María Gómez La Canastera is being performed today which is all about living through the pandemic.
Under the title “Que no nos quiten lo Bailao,” this flamenco performance is all about having lived through the pandemic. The title is a Spanish expression that means (roughly) they can’t take away what we have already enjoyed.
María Gómez explained that it is the reflection on life; live every moment as if it were the last, hence the title. María has taught Flamenco dancing for the last 23 years in Almuñécar
This year’s performance is full of nuances, she explained, including dances and styles brought back from previous years, such as: Guajira, Garrotín, or Fandango from Málaga, as well as Alegrías Segurillas, among others.
The dancers are accompanied by Flamenco singers Maria Montilla and Tomás García, as well as musicians such as Anthony Gómez (Percussion) Ramón Muñoz (Violin). Niño Carmelo (Guitar).
Handling the lighting & Sound is Roberto Joya and the show will be presented by Eloísa Martin Valero.
Advance tickets (10 euros) can be purchased at Viajes Eroski (Paseo del Altillo) or at the Casa de la Cultura in Almuñécar, as well as at the box office one hour before the show (12 euros).
