When we say summer temperatures are coming, we don't mean, 'come summer,' but rather this week in some places in Andalucía.
According to the Agencia Estatal de Meteorología (Aemet) from Thursday temperatures on thermometers will climb to the high 20s on the coast and to the low 30s inland in the Valle de Lecrín, for instance.
The reason is that we are going to get hot, dry air coming in from North Africa.
In just about all Andalucía off the coast temperatures will be in the mid 30s but in Sevilla it may go as high as 39ºC on Friday – even the city of Granada could reach the high 30s but Córdoba, known as the frying pan of Spain, it could reach 40ºC.
Thursday, Friday and Saturday are expected to be the hottest days with minimum night temperatures reaching 20 or 21 degrees at the hottest point of the week.
By Sunday temperatures will drop again, thanks to cooler, more humid air coming in from the West. Don’t get your hopes up, though, because next week it will return.
