Officers belonging to the Salobreña Policía Local retrieved a waterproof package of drugs from one of the town's beaches.

This happened Monday morning when beachgoers came across the package on Playa de la Charca and informed the police.

Police anti-drug action around the beaches of Cádiz and close too Gibraltar have forced drug runners to land further east on the coastlines of Málaga, Granada and even as far as Almería.

The amount confiscated on the Costa Tropical is increasing dramatically. For instance, in 2014 the total of hashish confiscated was 210 kilos. By 2017 it had increased to 862 kilos and from 2018 the figure increased sharply. This year so far the amount confiscated has been 2.5 tonnes.

Betwwen 2019 and 2021 the increase was 68% and as far as drug runners who have been arrested, the number tripled in just one year.
