Almuñécar’s PGOU

Yesterday, the new Plan General de Ordenación Urbana was approved in a Plenary Meeting of the Town Council; if accepted by the Junta, it will replace the 1987 one.

ALM Plenary Meeting MR23 400x250The motion put forward by the Mayor was backed by his ruling coalition formed by the PP, Más Almuñécar and Ciudadanos. However, their combined votes would have been insufficient without the vote in favor from the far-left party, IU-Podemos, as the party with most council seats, Convergencia Andaluza, and the PSOE have an equal number of seats.

The opposition parties voted against the PGOU approval because they consider that there has not been enough time for them to study the document.

Over the last 36 years since the 1987 PGOU was approved there have been two attempts to create a new one that have failed. This latest attempt must be accepted by the Junta de Andalucia to receive the final stamp of approval.

As the Mayor of Almuñécar’s party belongs to the same party that holds power in the Junta, there should be no hiccups.

The new PGOU encompasses 4,000 new dwellings and turning the Sandovala into a park. The Sandovala is the vega behind the San Cristóbal Mercadona. We will soon go over the PGOU in a more detailed manner in another news article.

Frank: if it is on display, it will be in the building next to the entrance of Hotel Victoria Playa, on the back road to Paseo de San Cristóbal.

Can someone please tell me where the PGOU document can be found that the City of Almunecar has now transmitted to the Junta de Andalucia? The official Ayuntamiento website (www.alunecar.es) is not reachable and the sede electronica does not have any information. Thanks
