Despite the recent rainfall, the reservoirs within the province are still low for this time of year.
According to the area water board, La Confederación Hidrográfica del Guadalquivir (CHG) the overall average stands at 46% of the province’s water-storage capacity.
Put another way, since November the reservoirs have recovered almost 20%, having risen from an overall average of 29%.
Some reservoirs have fared better, such as El Portillo which rose from 32% to 83%. The Canales one has a similar amount stored now, 80%.
Bermejales, which I visited recently, now only stands at 17.30%, which is nothing compared with the other two.
Despite the fact that the situation in the reservoirs within the province has improved, along the rest of the Guadalquivir where it passes through Andalucía, the average capacity percentage stored is only 25,4%.

Let the officials do something real about the 1000s of illegal watering of crops on illegal farms. That might help a tad. Easier to hit the motorist with banning zones then to enforce water distribution.
Oh look. Flying elephant.
