If you have been walking up through the old town, or indeed live there, you will have seen the excellent murals depicting times from the village's past.

It is entitled El Año de Los Jurelillos” (The Year of the Horse Mackerel) something the village was noted for.The painting shows how the catch was loaded onto mules to be sold at market.

This mural can be found on the Cuesta Peralta where it meets Calle San Ramón,” explained the First Councillor for La Herradura, Daniel Barbero. In the meantime work on the second mural is underway.

The artist behind the murals is a young man from Galicia but who now lives on the Costa del Sol, Guillermo Paz.

The Councillor says that the idea is to get visitors up into the old town and thus benefit local businesses located up there as well as inspire people to open up new businesses in the old town.
