Sierra Nevada White At Last!

Yesterday's rain has brought a sigh of relief from the company that manages the Sierra Nevada ski station because it has left a snowfall on the slopes.

GRA Sierra Nevada NV22 03As soon as the rain had finished they fired up the snow cannons to add artificial snow to that which had fallen all across the slopes and mountainside.

The private/public company, Cetursa reported that the snow line went down as far as 2,000-metres mark by Friday early afternoon, leaving snow from Pradollano, where the ski-resort village is, down the snow line.

Fingers are crossed that the weather forecast is accurate and that the low temperatures will remain at last, ending this unusually long, hot spell.

As for when the resort will open for the season, we’re looking at the last week of November or the first week of December – the decision has still yet to be taken.
