There is movement on Urbanización Carmenes del Mar - don't panic; not the houses but rather progress concerning the new access lane.
The Town Hall has approved the terms and conditions for Carmenes-del-Mar-access-lane, works contract. The project, which was drawn up by the civil engineer, Francisco Javier Ibáñez, has a budget of 651,000 euros, and a job-completition period of four months.
The Councillor for Urban Development, Javier García Fernández, explained that the project is on display on the municipal website so that construction companies can study it and enter their bids, which have to be in by the 11th of this month.
“It should be remembered that 27,000 sq/m of land had to have a compulsory-purchase order placed on it, to give room for the access lane, a pavement and street lighting,” said the councillor, explaining that the said land had been officially valued at 34,000 euros.
At present, the highest street in the urbanización (Los Altos) is Calle Encina, which ends in a small roundabout where drivers can turn around, as it is a dead end. This street will be extended up to the loop of the old N-340 that goes around Cerro Gordo, past the old Mirador de Cerro Gordo restaurant.
