An inmate at the provincial prison, Centro Penitenciario de Albolote, returned with some botty baggage in the form of 27 packages of hashish inserted up his anus.

Consequently, he is looking at another three years and nine months in the Land of Striped Sunshine.

This happened at the beginning of the pandemic, in December 2020. The prisoner had returned at 18.30h after a weekend pass but when he was searched, the prison officers found small quantities of drugs hidden behind the mask he was wearing, approximately 1.5g of cocaine and 1.5g of heroine.

A more detailed search was carried out and his internal cargo was discovered; 250g distributed in 27 ‘pellets.’ Had he got through the controls he would have made a tidy sum, calculated at 180 euroseach for the heroine and the cocaine and 1,380 euros for the hashish.

He will face the judge on the 27th of this month, where the Public Prosecutor is recommending the ‘extended stay’ and a fine of 3,120 euros.

Editorial comment: he must have thought that they would discover the stuff behind his mask and deduce that it was all he had on him… Wrong!
