Solidarity is a word many of us were not too familiar with until a Polish, workers-union leader came to fame. Now you can see it everywhere.
Take the case of the bar over in the province of Almería that instead of having their Menu del Día written on a blackboard, they have an announcement saying that if you are out of work and with no economic help from the state, then they will give you a free plate of food.
Carlos Rodríguez runs the said bar, called Pública in Mojácar where at the entrance it says, “Si estás en paro y no cobras ninguna prestación salarial, te invitamos a un plato de comida.”
The person who posted a photo on social media of the said blackboard message explained, “Sometimes it’s worth going onto Twitter just to see things like this, which put a smile on your face.”
Bar Pública has a motto on display inside the bar that reads, Vive, Siente y Disfruta, which is not a bad motto at all.
Of course, this move is a very effective free advertising move, if you want to be cynical, but when you’re down and out, who cares? Perhaps it is just somebody who wants to put the heart back into his home town.
