There as a small fire next to the A-44 within the municipality of Padul this afternoon (kilometre point 150) where a car was reported burning.
Around 12.00h the emergency, call centre received an alert from motorist that there was a burning car on the north-bound lanes at the above-mentioned kilometre point or ‘milestone.’
The Guardia Civil, Granada fire service, road maintenance and Infoca were despatched – the latter because the car was near a forested area.
Then at 13.00h news of the adjacent fire was relayed back to 112. The burning car was, with little doubt, the cause of the nearby fire.
A total of 42 Infoca firefighters were deployed as well as three helicopters and two, fixed-wing, single-engine, water bombers. Infoca also deployed a large fire truck and a smaller vehicle.
