First Sierra Nevada Snow

Despite a lingering summer, the first snowfall has appeared on the Sierra Nevada. Admittedly, it is little and will soon disappear, but it's a sign.

GRA Borreguiles Sierra Nevada 30SP22The rainfall in the city of Granada on Thursday also brought this yearly blessing.

In fact, the ski station on Pradollano has already begun to prepare for the skiing season and racing on to finish the new ski lifts before the snow arrives in earnest.

Thursday’s snowfall was in the Borreguiles area starting at 2,700 metres up, as well as in the Laguna and Veleta areas, too.

As said above, this snowfall will be ephemeral because this weekends temperatures will go up again. *Gloom!*

Anyway, in the meantime, you can plainly see the snow up there from down on the coast, in Salobreña and Motril.

…..to think back in 70s there was snow all year round on the Sierra Nevada… human induced climate change has been around for a while so Governments and individuals need to act accordingly
